Location & Geography
The Sultanate of Oman is located in Western Asia in the southeastern quarter of the Arabian Peninsula. It is bordered to the north by the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz, to the northwest by the United Arab Emirates, to the west by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to the south by Yemen.
Tourism & Attractions
Oman enjoys one of the most diverse environments in the Middle East with various tourist attractions and is particularly famous for adventure and cultural tourism. Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, was named the second-best city to visit in the world in 2012 by the Lonely Planet travel guide publisher. Muscat was also chosen as the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2012. In 2024, the city of Sur was selected as the Capital of Arab Tourism.
Cultural Heritage
The Sultanate of Oman takes pride in its many cultural elements and heritage sites that have been registered with international organizations concerned with cultural affairs. It is also proud of the international recognition of the scientific, social, and reformist impact of a number of Omani figures whose knowledge has benefited humanity in the fields of language, medicine, literature, navigation, and social work, which demonstrates the authenticity and greatness of this country's history.
